The right insert depends on your fuel preference, your firebox dimensions, and what your flue can support. We carry and install both types, and we’ll measure your existing opening before recommending a specific unit.
Wood-Burning Inserts
A wood insert fits directly into your masonry firebox and connects to a stainless steel liner that runs the full length of the flue. That liner is what makes the system safe and code-compliant: it creates a dedicated, properly sized pathway for combustion gases. Open wood-burning fireplaces can lose a large share of their heat up an unlined flue. The sealed combustion chamber and lined flue of a wood insert capture and distribute significantly more of that heat. Gas Fireplace Inserts
Gas inserts connect to your existing gas line and convert an open masonry fireplace into a controlled heat source you can adjust without loading wood. They run on natural gas or propane. Most masonry and factory-built fireplaces can accommodate an insert. Firebox depth, opening dimensions, and current flue condition all factor into which unit we recommend. Most installations are completed in a single day. If flue relining is also required, we’ll give you a realistic timeline during your estimate so there are no surprises on the day of the install.
What the Installation Process Looks Like
We don’t show up and start cutting without knowing what we’re working with. Every insert installation begins with a thorough inspection: we review your fireplace’s history with you, complete a visual flue inspection, and walk the exterior of the chimney. That sequence tells us whether your existing liner can stay or needs to be replaced, the condition of the smoke chamber, and which insert sizes are compatible with your opening. The inspection determines the exact scope of work and cost before we schedule the installation itself.
On installation day, we fit the insert, reline the flue if that’s part of the scope, and seal everything to manufacturer specifications and code requirements.
