How Do I Know If My Chimney Needs Repair?
Common signs include white staining (efflorescence) on exterior masonry, visible cracks in the crown or firebox, water in the firebox after rain, a persistent odor when the fireplace isn’t in use, or smoke backing into the room. Any of these is worth an inspection call. Some conditions, like a deteriorating flue liner, aren’t visible at all without a formal inspection.
What Is the Smoke Chamber & Why Does It Matter?
The smoke chamber is the compressed space directly above your firebox damper. Its job is to funnel combustion gases into the flue. When it’s poorly constructed or has deteriorated, heat and gases can reach surrounding framing, which is a leading cause of chimney-related structure fires. Smoke chamber parging (smoothing and recoating the interior surface) is one of the more impactful repairs we perform in homes where this area wasn’t built correctly or has broken down over time.

Do You Work on Gas Fireplaces & Inserts?
Yes. We install and service both gas and wood inserts and stoves, in addition to traditional masonry fireplaces. If you’re converting from wood to gas or adding an insert to an existing fireplace, we handle the full installation.
Does Homeowners Insurance Cover Chimney Repair?
It depends on the cause of the damage. Sudden events like storms or fire damage may be covered under your policy. Damage from wear, age, or deferred maintenance is generally excluded.
