What Happens During an Inspection?
Every appointment follows a documented three-part process. The technician starts by reviewing your fireplace’s history with you, then performs a visual flue inspection, checking for creosote buildup, liner damage, and blockages, and then completes a full exterior chimney walkthrough. Before leaving, the technician delivers a verbal summary of findings and any repair recommendations, so you know exactly what was found and what, if anything, needs attention.
We align our inspection schedule to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommendation for annual chimney, fireplace, and venting system inspections. The NFPA standard exists because hidden deterioration, animal intrusion, and creosote buildup aren’t always visible without a structured inspection, regardless of how often the fireplace is used. We walk every customer through why that annual standard matters for their specific setup.
Training That Runs Every Week
Every Tuesday, our team dedicates an hour of its weekly meeting to a focused training topic: safety protocols, code refreshers, technical procedures, or current industry standards. That’s not a once-a-year seminar. It’s built into how we operate week to week.
On the last Friday of every month, the entire team leaves the field for a full day of hands-on training covering safety, technical procedures, and field work. We’ve opened these monthly sessions to other chimney and fireplace companies in the area, something rare in a trade where competitors typically train in isolation. How do I know if my chimney needs cleaning?
The clearest signs are visible creosote buildup in the firebox, reduced draft, smoke entering the room, or a strong odor when the fireplace isn't in use. That said, you may not notice anything visible at all — which is exactly why the NFPA recommends an annual inspection regardless of how much you use the fireplace.
What's the difference between a sweep and an inspection?
A sweep removes creosote and debris from the flue. An inspection assesses the structural condition of the flue liner, firebox, crown, and exterior masonry. Our appointments combine both: we sweep, then walk you through a full visual inspection with findings explained before we leave.

What happens after my appointment?
Same day, you'll receive a digital copy of your receipt and service paperwork by email. We also send before-and-after photos documenting the work. If any repairs were recommended, we follow up after project completion to make sure everything was addressed to your satisfaction.
