Stainless Steel Liners & Other Options

Stainless steel is the most widely used liner material because it’s corrosion-resistant, durable, and compatible with wood, gas, and oil appliances. It’s available in rigid and flexible formats; flexible stainless steel is particularly useful in chimneys with offsets or bends where a rigid liner can’t be threaded through. For certain gas appliances with lower heat output, aluminum is a lighter option, though it isn’t appropriate for wood-burning applications.

The right liner for your chimney depends on fuel type, appliance specifications, chimney height and configuration, and the condition of the existing flue. Sizing matters as much as material: an improperly sized liner affects draft and combustion efficiency regardless of how well it’s installed. Every Tuesday, the team dedicates an hour of its weekly meeting to a focused training topic: safety, code refreshers, technical procedures, or industry standards. Every last Friday of the month, the entire team comes out of the field for a full-day session covering safety, technical procedures, and hands-on fieldwork. We’ve opened those monthly sessions to other chimney companies in the area, because raising the standard for the trade as a whole is how every home gets safer.
